Oprah Winfrey Show: Christmas Kindness
Oprah Winfrey journeys to South Africa.
She went to bring the gift of Christmas.
Oprah’s journey to South Africa focuses attention on the overwhelming devastation AIDS has wrought on the people of that nation and to raise awareness of the plight of South Africa’s children – a generation of hungry, homeless, poor and uneducated. For 21 days Oprah and her team trek across the lush, rolling hills of the impoverished regions of Kwala-Zulu-Natal and Umtata carrying 50,000 backpacks filled with gifts and shoes.
It is a journey that brings the joys of Christmas to those who have never known it before, a voyage of hope and understanding. And for one remarkable woman it will ultimately be her most illuminating personal odyssey…
